To protect the users of 2Ring DW from various cross site scripting attacks, 2Ring DW sets the maximum protection level on its authentication process (among other protections). This behavior is in line with industry standards and recommendations. This protection is working well in all situations when users access 2Ring DW directly using a modern desktop or mobile browser or on a TV. However, it prevents users accessing some content served by 2Ring DW (images, fonts, sounds, PDFs) when embedded in Korbyt.

There are two possible solutions:

  • Do not use static content hosted by 2Ring DW (images, fonts, sounds, PDFs) and refer to publicly available alternatives instead

    • Customer logo from customer public site

    • Standard windows fonts

    • etc.

  • Contact 2Ring support for slightly lesser protection settings that would allow access to content served by 2Ring DW.

Appspace

While the exact setup may vary depending on the specific use case within Appspace, DW layouts are typically displayed as embedded web pages using an <iframe> element. For security reasons, cloud-based DW does not allow wallboards to be embedded by default. To enable embedding, you must provide a list of all URLs that will be used to load the DW layouts.

How to Identify Required URLs

If you’re unsure how to obtain the necessary URLs (referrers), follow these steps:

  1. Open the following test page on each device and location where you plan to display the DW layouts: https://cloud.2ring.com/StaticFiles/iframeTest/AncestorsV2.html

    This test page does not work in Firefox.

  2. Capture the entire output of the page (a screenshot or photo is sufficient).

  3. Repeat this process for all device types and locations, as the referrer may differ depending on how the layout is displayed (e.g., via a configuration page vs. directly on a device).

Submitting the Referrer List

Once you have collected all relevant URLs, submit a request to update the referrer whitelist for your DW tenant at https://www.2ring.com/support/contact-support/.
